HENRY SPENCER

Remote dog treat dispenser

Train9 is an innovative solution for dog owners who have difficulty with training. Using positive reinforcement you can persuade your dog to stop behaving badly, rewarding them for desirable behaviour, helping to maintain and enhance the relationship you have with them. The remote control treat dispenser allows you to redirect your dog’s attention away from certain problematic scenarios. Stop your dog from barking at visitors, attacking your vacuum cleaner or begging for attention by rewarding them for being obedient. Give them what they need to be able to have confidence and discipline allowing them to have faith in your guidance as an owner.

It can be used to take incremental steps towards removing separation anxiety by rewarding them for being calm whilst you leave them in a room alone. The ability to be able to train your dog from a distance opens up a new world to smart training – have hours of fun with you dog, it’s not just a trainer, it’s a toy that everybody can get involved with and have fun teaching their dog new tricks. Train9 is filled with kibble sized treats; you can even use dried food that a dog typically has for dinner turning meal times into an interactive training session!

Accurate, reliable, and versatile, take your dog to cloud 9 with the train9 canine trainer

Toy Design for Autism

A make-your-own magnetic fidget toy for children with Autism, incorporating the Maker Movement's ethos of empowerment through creative play with the significant developmental benefits of fidgeting. The kit contains everything needed for a parent to connect with their child, creating a toy that will go on to act as a companion, aiding concentration and easing stress.

This research-based project takes full advantage of co-design processes, working in collaboration with parents and specialist schools to reach a practical solution that is connected with reality and meets the users' wide range of needs.

ROMINA MOISSIS

Slot-in office helper

This design provides university students with a combination of small modular furniture to assist them in the office space, all packed together in a convenient way for them to carry.

Consisting of a set of shelves, a printer desk and four on-desk parts, the product creates extra space to store different sized books, folders, stationary and other office items in an accessible way, while not occupying too much space in the room. All parts are assembled together with no extra fixes (screws, bolts, etc.), just by slotting and sliding them into one another, considering the ease of assembly and disassembly.

Furniture for the circular economy

In a time where the worlds remaining resources are becoming more and more precious, the role of a circular economy in design is becoming increasingly important. My project ‘furniture for the circular economy’ will focus on various different techniques and methods to ensure materials will not be wasted and will be used in such a way so as to create something new and exciting. I will be designing a building a table using materials that have had a previous life, such as plastic milk bottles and pallets, and also some raw materials such as tree trunks in their natural state. Through using tree trunks in their natural state and not having them processed into something else, such as planks, it removes all of the potential pollution that would come with the process, in turn contributing to what I am trying to achieve by creating furniture with a circular economy based philosophy, that being 0 waste and no harm to the environment.

Aquarium with technology to grown Sphagnum Moss

“Artemis” is a recreational household product targeted for people with interest in sphagnum moss, aquatic life, and possibly indoor gardening. Artemis is an aesthetically pleasing and ergonomically designed, worlds first product to be both an aquarium and an open-terrarium. In order to act as a natural habitat sustaining platform, Artemis incorporates the innovative, Shikkou-Nuri technology from Japan, that allows users to grow sphagnum moss and other various plantations, while keeping a perfect aquatic environment for fresh water fishes. With each Artemis, one Shikkou-Nuri platform is applied to, as one of the walls of the aquarium tank, along with personal landscape designed to open up more possibilities for creativity and personalisation within aquascaping and landscaping activities. The two different scenes of aquatic life and land life can also turn into a great house ornament, or at times, a medium of stress relief. However, with the use of the Artie App, Artemis can turn into a great medium to provide quality education, collect research information, and most importantly, spread knowledge and inspiration to raise environmental awareness, to create an environment for the Shikkou-Nuri technology to be applied in future projects.

 Soft toys as waste

The inspiration for this project was personal experience of owning excess toys and a desire to ensure a sustainable future . From a young age I started my toy collection which leaves me now at 22 years old with bags of unwanted and outgrown soft toys. The aim of this project is to provide an alternative to landfill for the disposal of unwanted or damaged soft toys.

Although thousands of preloved toys are donated each year to worthwhile causes, a percentage will still make their way to landfill. The solution is the creation of a woven fabric which makes use of every component of a soft toy.  Each fabric is unique to the original  toy and maintains it''s history while giving the toy a new purpose and chance to create new memories.
